Well, I made them! First, though, I must confess I am not in any way an experienced jewelry maker... but... I DO love two things especially: unusual pierced earrings. And, my cats. Over the years when Zen, Quincy, Masha, Beeper, Regina, Sammi, Mac or Cagney would "drop a whisker", I'd save them in a china box on the mantlepiece. Never knew just why I did it. Until a month ago. While I was talking on the phone with my sister Sandy (she makes gorgeous single strand necklaces for me out of tiny beads) I asked her about this crazy idea I had, to maybe... make earrings using cat whiskers, then add silver wires and findings? Well, Sandy's used to my strange notions so she didn't bat an eye. Meantime, we looked through Fire Mountain's large catalogue. Sure enough, after I'd sketched the earrings on paper, all the parts I needed to make it happen were there, in the book. I was sooo excited to be able to bring my oddball creation to life! As it turned out, amethyst, silver, and whiskers made a perfect trio! Meow, purr! The earwire fit beautifully above the link and, the silver cone drop held the delicate bouquet of whiskers my dear kitties had been "donating" all these years. Once our order arrived Sandy and I assembled the earrings in less than an hour, the glue cementing the whiskers into the cone (just as I'd envisioned when I made the original sketch). Although the earrings appear quite dainty, they are extremely well made and absolutely one of a kind. People constantly come up to me when I wear them and ask "where'd you get those incredible earrings?" You would not believe the conversations they start. I always tell anyone who asks that these are specially designed by me, with the supplies from Fire Mountain's wonderful catalogue. Even though my pets furnished the whiskers, Sandy and I would have been lost without the other pieces. I can't thank you enough and, repeat... how well the silver and amethyst works. Anybody else out there with a unique jewelry project like mine? Don't be shy... Go for it! I did. And I had FABULOUS results. Fire Mountain - you're... THE CAT'S WHISKERS!!!!

Love,

Cindy
