Q.
I like using the split rings that go around twice at the ends of my necklaces, is there an easy way to open them without buying the tool that is designed to do that?

A.
The best way to open split rings without the use of split ring pliers is to pry open one end of the split ring's wire using a fingernail or fine pointed beading awl. Once it's open, you can slide a charm or other finding onto the ring, much like the way you would put a new key on your key ring.

A pair of split ring pliers is really the best way to open split rings without misshaping the finding. These types of pliers work quickly and effectively. For instructions on how to use this tool properly, review the ''Using Split Ring Pliers'' how-to video and illustrated instructions that is designed specifically for this task.Materials
