Q.
What are the most common sizes and strengths for jumprings? Obviously size matters regarding whatever piece of jewelry you are working on, but when ordering in bulk or just larger amounts is there a good all round gauge and size you suggest?

A.
The most common size and strength, or gauge, for jumprings is 4mm outside diameter in 20-gauge. The 4mm jumpring most closely matches the size of the holes on the loop of a clasp and the size of links in bulk chains, making them a less noticeable element in your jewelry design. 20-gauge is a good diameter, or thickness, and provides a stronger hold when attached to a clasp.
