Q.
My daughter received a teen book on making jewelry with paper clips. Can I use the silver- and gold-colored paper clip wire in making my jewelry? What (if any) are the inherent problems with using this wire?
- Jim
A.
Paper clips are most generally made from galvanized lightweight steel wire and are not very malleable so they break easily at their bend points when trying to reshape them. Depending on the application, and if you are needing to straighten or reshape them, this may not be your best choice. An excellent choice of craft wire would be either color-coated Zebra Wire™ or Wrapit® brand non-coated wire.
