Topics: Chain, Extender

Q.
Do you have instructions how to make a chain extender out of wire that is secure, to add an inch or so to a bracelet? It is gold plated. Thank You, Best Regards,
- Betty
A.
There are a variety of techniques that can be used for this purpose.
  • Create links out of wire with the double-wrapped loop technique and connect the links with jumprings
  • Cut a length of chain and connect with jumprings or wire finished with wrapped loops
  • Create chain sections with jumprings. You can purchase jumprings or create them from wire. Then, add a lobster claw clasp.
  • You can also add a pre-made chain extender and lobster claw clap
It's a good idea to use wire loops, chain or jumprings that have holes large enough to connect a lobster claw or spring ring clasp to at several points of the connector.
