    End of Materials List
    Step 1

    Picture 1
Getting started. Draw your own diagram of the central part of the necklace, or photocopy Picture 1, enlarging it to the desired size. Trace the design on to the right side of the leather. Cut off button shanks and glue your buttons and cabochons in the marked places.
    Step 2
The oval cabochon. Sew a basic row in Q around the oval cabochon. Bead the cabochon in peyote stitch. The number of rows depends on the thickness of your cabochon. There are two rows in Q and O in the original design. Go through the last bead row for several times, pulling tightly on the thread. Sew a row in C and B around the beaded cabochon. When the row is finished go through all the beads, pulling tightly on the thread.
    Step 3

    Figure 1
The triangular cabochon. Sew F beads along each side of triangular cabochon. Sew B beads in the corners of the triangular. Now fill in the free space between the beads with N. When the row is finished go through all the beads, pulling tightly on the thread. Sew N beads around it.

    Figure 2

Using N, sew a basic row around the buttons (Fig. 1). Continue beading in N (Fig. 2). Go through the last bead row for several times, pulling the thread taut.

    Figure 3
    Step 4
Rivolis and the free space. Draw 9/16" (14mm) circles in places where you want to attach your rivolis. Embroider a row in Q seed beads around each rivoli (Fig. 1). Bead two rows in peyote stitch, using Q (Fig. 2). Insert your rivoli into the bezel. Work one row in O and go through this row for several times, pulling tightly on the thread. Sew a row in B around the beaded rivolis.

Embroider the free space according to the diagram, using B and F beads as well as J, K, L, M, N, O seed beads. Trim away all the excess leather as close to the last bead row as possible.
    Step 5

    Figure 5

    Figure 6

    Figure 7
The under backing. Put the embroidered element back side down on a thin paperboard and trace its outline. Then remove the element and draw a second line approximately 2mm inside of the traced line. Using scissors, cut out the paperboard pattern, along the second line. Glue the paperboard to the wrong side of the necklace. Glue a piece of leather atop of it. Let the glue dry. Trim away all the excess leather.Work the basic edge row in L (Fig. 4). Embroider the edge in M and I (Fig.5), as shown in the photograph.

Embroider the rivoli at the bottom of the necklace, using A and P (Fig. 6). Work pendants in O and E, while embroidering the rivoli.

Attach strings of G, H, and I to the right and to the left from the central part (Fig. 7). Work loops in M. Attach a toggle clasp to the loops.
