Refer to Figure 1

Step 1
Figure 1
Identify (A) upper and (B) lower die holders on tool.
Step 2
Ensure tool handles can be opened completely. If necessary, adjust with (C) stroke adjustment screw.
Step 3
Pierce hole in material for button location as required. (If replacing existing buttons this will not be necessary.)

Place button in upper die with shank pointing downward.
Step 5
Close the tool gently to ensure the button is positioned correctly in the upper die.
Step 6
Place nail in lower die.
Step 7
Position material over nail point.

When handling the material, be careful not to change location of the nail.

Button will not engage if the nail is not perfectly straight.
Step 8
Squeeze handles until button and nail are securely attached to material. (This may require the use of both hands.)
Step 9
Release the tool and remove button and material from upper die.
