Romantic sprays of Swarovski crystals stemming from a flower top give wedding cakes a fresh, new look that lights up the room. Crystal stems are easily fashioned from gold-filled or sterling silver wire and lovely heart-shaped crystal components.
Here's how:
Choose the precious-metal wire to best match your wedding colors--use sterling silver for cool, winter tones and gold-filled for warm, autumnal hues. Shop the selection of Swarovski crystal components for the shape and color of your choice. Heart, teardrop, polygon and baroque shapes in large sizes create a dramatic effect.
Cut your precious-metal wire into nine 10-inch segments using your memory-wire shears. Shape each wire segment into gentle arches of varying heights. With your round-nose pliers, make a loop at the end of each arch. Use jumprings to attach one Swarovski crystal component to each wire loop.
Top your wedding cake with fresh flower blossoms and arrange the crystal stems in the center of the cake topper where the floral stems come together.
