Smart paper choices have helped to make an impact on the environment. Printing our catalogs on recycled paper has saved countless trees and valuable energy, while reducing waste. Decreasing the size and thickness of the catalog paper a few years ago cut back on the amount of paper used. In addition, we encourage customers to share their used catalogs with friends, neighbors and local beading societies to use for the inspirational designs found throughout the catalogs.
We use a waste-reducing print method -- rotogravure -- rather than offset printing, saving hundreds of pounds of paper each year. The print company we work with is one of the top-rated in the country for sustainability and environmental performance.
Promoting greater use of electronic resources is an avenue many businesses are moving toward in an effort to conserve natural resources. We definitely use our share of office paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminum cans, all of which is recycled regularly. All waste paper including copy paper, return cards, envelopes and shipping orders are collected, shred and recycled each month along with all cardboard boxes. We also drop off magazines to the waiting rooms of local hospitals and clinics and enjoy hearing how much everyone appreciates them.
