"What an incredible surprise for me!"

Claudia's bracelet creation "Claws" combines her love for Swarovski crystals with her wild nature that includes travels on her vintage Yamaha motorcycle. While riding in the Black Forest in Germany she became fascinated by the shady forests and decided to use five sizes and five colors of Swarovski bicones that are graduated to form "Claws."

Grand Prize Employee's Choice Winner: Sue Burgett

This eye-catching motorcycle helmet made from Swarovski flat back crystal rhinestones captured the favor of the employee judges. Designer Sue Burgett says her practical inspiration came from wanting to be seen by other motorists.

Design Idea D14H Chandelier
Grand Prize President's Award Winner: Rebecca Bechel

Designer Rebecca Bechel shares her inspiration for naming her chandelier featuring Swarovski butterflies.

"I love butterflies and jewel tone colors. I also love the way you can 'paint' with beads. The design came together in my head fairly easily. The math behind it was a little more difficult. As I was adding the crystal fringe, it reminded me of a waterfall, hence the title of 'Butterfly Falls'."

The chandelier is built around two 7-inch brass hoops. The peyote band around the top is about 2-inches high and the crystal fringe adds another 8 inches in height. The entire chandelier is connected to a 3-inch brass hoop encased in Delica® and rocaille seed beads. The connecting cables are strung with crystals and entwined with beaded vines that are sprinkled with crystal butterflies and flowers.

Design Idea D14K Necklace and Earrings
Grand Prize Honorable Mention: Karen Rakoski

Moruya comes from the "mherroyah," a word used by indigenous Australians to mean "home of the black swan." Designer Karen Rakoski describes her necklace and earring set in poetic terms:

"Dewdrops on flowers in the early morning add punctuation to a serene scene. They may not be the first thing noticed. There is the swan with all those flowers and vines after all. But the effect of the light, creating sparkle on the drops like the light reflecting off crystals, helps set the stage for the most memorable event."
