Summertime is the perfect time for colored gemstones and turquoise is always a popular choice. The sparkling faceted turquoise gemstone beads in this necklace, along with their exotic-looking matrix, make this piece ...

Necklace

Step 1
String the following onto one silver-plated 2-inch headpin:
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing away from the head of the headpin)
  • One crazy lace agate purple 30x20mm teardrop (large end facing the bead cap)
  • One Swarovski and silver-plated crystal AB 4x2mm rondelle
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing away from the rondelle)
  • One turquoise 10mm faceted round
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a crazy lace agate focal.
Step 2
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers gently press the sides of the first bead cap so they form around the base of the teardrop.
Step 3
Using flush-cutters cut one 22-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire.
Step 4
String onto the beading wire one sterling silver 2x2mm crimp bead and one Accu-Guard™ wire protector. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp bead. Pull the beading wire so the crimp rests snug against the Accu-Guard leaving approximately 1/4 inch of beading wire on the end. Place a small amount of adhesive (Loctite®) inside the crimp (optional).

Using crimping pliers crimp the crimp bead. Using flush-cutters trim the excess from the short end of the beading wire. Place one silver-plated 4mm stardust crimp cover over the crimp bead then gently close it.
Step 5
String the following onto the beading wire:
  • One turquoise 10mm faceted round
  • One silver-plated 5x2mm smooth heishi
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing away from the heishi)
  • One crazy lace agate 14mm round

  • One silver-plated 5x2mm smooth heishi
  • Fifteen turquoise 10mm faceted rounds
  • One silver-plated 5x2mm smooth heishi
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing away from the heishi)
  • One crazy lace agate 14mm round
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing 14mm round)
  • One silver-plated 5x2mm smooth heishi
  • One turquoise 10mm faceted round
  • One silver-plated 5x2mm smooth heishi
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing away from the heishi)
  • One crazy lace agate 14mm round
  • One silver-plated 8x4mm fancy round bead cap (open end facing 14mm round)
  • One silver-plated 5x2mm smooth heishi
Step 6
Continue to string one crazy lace agate focal.

Repeat the stringing sequence in Step 5 in the opposite direction to string the second half of the necklace.
Step 7
Repeat Step 4 to secure the strand.
Step 8
Using a pair of chain-nose and bent-nose pliers open two silver-plated 5mm jumprings.

Pass one jumpring through the loop on one portion of one silver-plated fishhook clasp and the Accu-Guard on one end of the necklace. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach the loop on the other portion of the clasp to the opposite end of the necklace.

Tip: Use a second crimp cover to disguise extra space at the end of a necklace or to even out a design.
