Necklace

Kumihimo Cord

Step 1
Using scissors cut four 72-inch lengths and nine 9-inch lengths of dark grey mousetail cord.
Step 2
Using flush-cutters, cut the following lengths of chain:
  • Five 4-inch lengths of 22-gauge brass Zebra Wire™
  • One 1-3/4 inch length, three 3-3/4 inch lengths, three 4-1/2 inch lengths, three 5-1/4 inch lengths and two 65-inch lengths of gold-finished 3x2.5mm cable chain
  • Three 4-3/4 inch lengths and three 4-inch lengths of silver-finished 2.2mm cable chain
  • One 1-inch length of gold-plated 4.8x3.3mm cable chain
Step 3
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, form a simple loop on the end of a 4-inch length of wire. Repeat to create a simple loop on a total of five 4-inch lengths of wire.
Step 4
Match the ends of the two 65-inch lengths of gold-finished 3x2.5mm cable chain. Pass the center link on each of the chains onto the loop on the end of a 4-inch length of wire to make four 32.5-inch length chains.
Step 5
Match one end of four 72-inch lengths of dark grey cord. Fold the cords over and match up the ends, creating eight strands. Wrap the end of a 4-inch length of wire, with the chains attached, around the center of the cords two times to secure the chains and cord to the wire.
Step 6
Place wire-wrapped ends of chain and cord through the center of the kumihimo disc, and place the dark grey cord strands through the slots on the card, setting up the four chains and the four strands of cord on opposite sides of the disc. Weave the cord in a basic 8-cord pattern for 17 inches.
Step 7
Place a small amount of E-6000® Jewelry and Craft Adhesive on the end of the woven cord. Pass the loop on a 4-inch length of Zebra Wire through the last link of each of the four lengths of chain and through the end of the woven cord and tightly wind the wire around the woven cord tight to secure the cord in place.
Step 8
Pass the straight end of the wire through one 14x14mm glass cone and one 8mm faceted round black glass bead. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a wrapped loop on the straight end of the wire.

Repeat to attach one 14x14mm glass cone and one 8mm faceted round black glass bead to the opposite end of the woven cord necklace and finish with a wrapped loop.
Step 9
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 5.5mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the ring portion of the toggle clasp and the wrapped loop above the glass cone on the first end of the woven cord. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the bar portion of the toggle clasp and the wrapped loop on the second end of the woven cord.

Tassels

Step 10
String the first link of one 3-3/4 inch, one 4-1/2 inch and one 5-1/4 inch length of gold-finished 3x2.5mm cable chain, one 4-3/4 inch and one 4-inch length of silver-finished 2.2mm cable chain onto the loop of a 4-inch lengths of wire.
Step 11
Match one end of three 9-inch lengths of dark grey cord. Fold the cords over and match up the ends, creating six strands. Wrap the end of 4-inch length of wire with the chains attached around the center of the cords two times to secure the chains and cord to the wire.
Step 12
Pass the straight end of the wire through one 11x11mm glass cord end with confetti pattern and one 8mm faceted round black glass bead. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a wrapped loop on the straight end of the wire.
Step 13
Open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through a 12x12mm yellow star drop and the last link on the first length of chain. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach a different color star drop to the last link on each of the remaining five lengths of chain.
Step 14
Repeat Steps 10 - 14 to create two additional tassels using 11x11 glass cord ends with wavy line pattern in place of the confetti pattern cord end from Step 12.
Step 15
