Single-Strand Necklace with Antiqued Pewter Pendant, Chainmaille and Macramé Leather Cord

Single-Strand Necklace with Antiqued Pewter Pendant, Chainmaille and Macramé Leather Cord
Step 1
Using flush-cutters, cut two 5-inch lengths of nickel silver 22-gauge Wrapit® wire.
Step 2
Using a pair of laser scissors, cut four 72-inch lengths of black leather cord.
Step 3
Match the ends of two 72-inch lengths of cord. Place the loop on the center of the cords through two 10mm round twisted jumprings and pull the ends through the loop to create a lark's head knot to hold the cords together.

Tip: Pin or tape jumpring end of the strands to your work station to make it easier to form your knots evenly.
Step 4
Make a square knot using the two outside strands over the two inside strands. The basic pattern is:
  • Strand 1 over the base
  • Strand 2 over strand 1
  • Strand 2 under the base
  • Strand 2 through the loop
  • Strand 1 over the base
  • Strand 2 over strand 1
  • Strand 2 under the base
  • Strand 2 through the loop
Note: You must start consistently with the same strand so the pattern will twist.

Continue making square knots for 4-1/2 inches.
Step 5
Tie an overhand knot on the end of the cords after the last square knot. Tighten the knot. Place a small amount of adhesive (Loctite®) on the end of the knotted cord.
Step 6
Pass the end of a 5-inch length of wire through the end of the knotted cord and tightly wind the wire around the cord to secure wire to the cord leaving a 2-inch tail of wire.

Pass the straight end of the wire through a 26x6mm cone. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a wrapped loop on the straight end of the wire.
Step 7
Repeat Steps 3 - 6 to create a second 4-1/2 inch length of knotted cord finished with a 26x6mm cone and wrapped loop.
Step 8
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and bent-nose pliers, open a 10mm twisted jumpring. Pass it through double jumprings at the end of the first length of knotted cords and two more 10mm jumprings. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach a second 10mm jumpring next to the first.

Flip the last two jumprings down, so they hang down as far as possible (the bottom of the jumprings are now the tops).

Pass two 10mm jumprings through the top of the last set of jumprings.

Continue to repeat in order to attach thirty-two 10mm twisted jumprings in a Queen's chainmaille link pattern for 2-1/2 inches.
Step 9
Repeat to attach thirty-two 10mm twisted jumprings in a Queen's chainmaille link pattern for 2-1/2 inches to the second length of knotted cords.
Step 10
Attach two 6mm jumprings through the last set of 10mm jumprings. Continue to attach another set of two 6mm jumprings.
Step 11
Pass the bail of the snake pendant over the 6mm jumpring portion of the chain. Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the last set of double 6mm jumprings and the last set of double 10mm jumprings on the opposite length of knotted cord. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach a second 6mm jumpring next to the first.
Step 12
Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the wrapped loop on the top of the bead cone on the first length of knotted cord and the loop on a lobster claw clasp. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach a 6mm jumpring to the wrapped loop on the top of the bead cone on the opposite length of woven knotted cord.
