  • Bench pin, wood / steel / plastic, black, 7-1/2 x 2-inch rectangle with V-slot and C-clamp
  • Punch, EUROTOOL, tempered steel, 5 inches with 3mm tip
  • Flex shaft, Foredom, steel and plastic, black, 6-3/4 inch bench-style controller with forward / reverse and foot pedal speed control
  • Handpiece attachment, Foredom H.44T, steel and aluminum, 5-5/8x1-inch with 1/4 inch diameter shanks
  • Micro-mesh sanding pads, 2x2-inch square, 1500-12000 grit
  • Pliers, flush-cutter 
  • Pliers, flat-nose

    Necklace

    Step 1
    On a sheet of graph paper, draw a heart shape approximately 5 inches in diameter.

    Tip: If you do not have graph paper, create a graph on paper with the lines at 1/4 inch intervals.

    Using scissors cut out the graph paper heart. Glue the heart to one 6x6-inch sheet of jeweler's bronze using rubber cement or a glue stick.
    Step 2
    Place the jeweler's bronze onto a bench pin mounted in the bench pin system. Using a jeweler saw, cut around the graph paper heart shape to create a jeweler's bronze metal heart component.
    Step 3
    Using a marker mark the graph paper at 1/4 inch intervals around the entire edge of the heart component.

    Using a EUROTOOL® punch, create a divot at each 1/4 inch mark along the edge and each point where the lines intersect on the graph paper.

    Insert a 1mm drill bit into the Foredom® flex shaft handpiece attachment; drill a 1mm hole at each divot point.
    Step 4
    Place the heart component over a second sheet of jeweler's bronze and trace around it. Place the second sheet of jeweler's bronze onto the bench pin and, using a jeweler saw, cut out the back heart component.
    Step 5
    Place the front heart component over the back heart component so they line up as closely as possible. Using the EUROTOOL punch, create divots on the back heart component to match the drilled holes around the edge of the front heart component. Drill 1mm holes at each divot point around the edge of the back heart component.
    Step 6
    Apply a small amount of GORILLA™ Epoxy, Impact-Tough™ Formula adhesive to the flat pad of one 18Kt gold-plated 23x13.5mm heart glue-on bail (the loop should curve toward the front of the bail).

    Press the bail onto the back side of the back heart component, toward the center of one lobe of the heart.

    Repeat to attach a second heart glue-on bail to the second lobe of the heart.
    Step 7
    Remove the graph paper from the front heart component. Sand the perforated holes on each heart component to smooth any sharp edges.
    Step 8
    Place one lobe of the front heart component over the dapping block. Using a nylon hammer, slowly tap the surface of the front heart component. Move the component around, creating a slight curve around the edge. Deepen the curve slightly toward the center of the heart. This is to make room for the wire that will rest between the two heart components.
    Step 9
    Using flush-cutters cut one 2-foot length of gold-plated 34-gauge wire.
    Step 10
    Pass the length of wire from back side to front through one hole toward the edge, but not along the edge, of the front heart component. Leave approximately 1 inch of wire on the end.

    String the following onto the length of wire:
    • One Swarovski jet 2mm round
    • One Swarovski ruby 4mm bicone
    • One Swarovski jet 2mm round
    Pass the wire down through one hole adjacent to the previous hole.
    Step 11
    Pass the wire up through another adjacent hole and string one Swarovski jet 3mm bicone, one Swarovski ruby 4mm bicone and one Swarovski jet 3mm bicone. Pass the wire down through one hole adjacent to the previous hole.

    Continue adding the three Swarovski crystal beads and wire-wrapping until the entire 2-foot length of wire is used leaving approximately 1 inch of wire on the end.
    Step 12
    Pass the 1-inch end back through the wire wrap on the back side of the front heart component to secure the wire in place. Repeat to secure the 1-inch end from Step 10.
    Step 13
    Repeat Steps 9 - 12 using each hole multiple times until the entire front heart component, except the holes along the edge, are wire wrapped with Swarovski crystal beads.

    Note: Do not wire wrap the holes along the edge of the front heart component. They will be used later.
    Step 14
    After the surface of the front heart component has been covered, continue to wire wrap and fill in any gaps of crystal on the front heart component securing the wire ends to wire wrap on the back side of the component.
    Step 15
    Attach the nozzle to the E-6000® Jewelry and Craft Adhesive. Apply a layer of E-6000 to the back side of the front heart component. Make sure not to cover the holes along the edge with E-6000. Press the front side of the back heart component onto the adhesive making sure that the holes along the edge of both components line up as closely as possible.

    Let the adhesive dry according to manufacturer's instructions.
    Step 16
    Using flush-cutters cut one 2-foot length of gold-plated 34-gauge wire.
    Step 17
    Pass the length of wire through one hole on the back heart component bringing the wire out the gap between the front and back heart components leaving approximately 1/2 inch of wire on the end. Pass the wire through the same hole once more to secure the wire in place.

    Pass the wire through the hole once more and through the corresponding hole of the front heart component.
    Step 18
    Using a headpin or thick piece of wire tuck in and conceal the 1/2 inch end of wire in the gap between the front and back heart component.
    Step 19
    String the following onto the length of wire:
    • One Swarovski crystal ruby 4mm bicone
    • One Swarovski crystal ruby 3mm bicone
    • One Swarovski crystal jet 3mm bicone
    • Two opaque black #11 seed beads
    Step 20
    Wrap the wire around the edge of the heart component. Pass the wire through the holes adjacent to the previous holes, back side to front, on the back and front heart component creating a whip stitch.
    Step 21
    Continue to whip stitch, adding Swarovski crystal beads and seed beads until the entire 2-foot length of wire is used leaving approximately 1 inch of wire on the end.
    Step 22
    Pass the 1-inch end of wire through the next hole on the back heart component twice and conceal between the two components.
    Step 23
    Repeat Steps 16 - 22 continuing the whip stitch around the entire edge of the heart component.
    Step 24
    Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and bent-nose pliers open the following jumprings:
    • Four 14Kt gold-filled 4mm jumprings
    • Two 14Kt gold-filled 5.5mm jumprings
    • Two 14Kt gold-filled 6mm jumprings
    Step 25
    Using flush-cutters cut the following:
    • Two 8-inch lengths of 14Kt gold-filled 7x6mm hammered cable chain
    • Two 7-3/4 inch lengths of 14Kt gold-filled 3x2.5mm cable chain
    • Two 7-3/4 inch lengths of 14Kt gold-filled 4x3mm flat cable chain
    • Two 7-3/4 inch lengths of gunmetal-finished 1.5mm ball chain
    Note: The clasp and chain extender on the gunmetal-finished 1.5mm ball chain can be saved for another project.
    Step 26
    Using chain-nose pliers, gently close a gold-plated side clamp-on bead tip over the first bead on one end of one 7-3/4 inch length of gunmetal-finished 1.5mm ball chain. Repeat to place a bead tip over the last bead on the opposite end of the ball chain.

    Repeat to attach a bead tip to both ends of the second 7-3/4 inch length of gunmetal-finished 1.5mm ball chain.
    Step 27
    Pass one 4mm jumpring through the loop of the bead tip on one end of one 7-3/4 inch length of gunmetal-finished 1.5mm ball chain, the last link on one end of one 14Kt gold-filled 3x2.5mm cable chain and the last link on one 14Kt gold-filled 4x3mm flat cable chain. Close the jumpring.

    Repeat to attach one 4mm jumpring to the bead tip on the opposite end of the ball chain and the last links on the opposite end of each chain.
    Step 28
    Repeat Step 27 to create a second set of ball chain, cable chain and flat cable chain.
    Step 29
    Pass one 5.5mm jumpring through the 4mm jumpring connecting one set of chain and the loop on the bar portion of one gold-filled 11mm toggle clasp. Close the jumpring.

    Repeat to attach the loop on the ring portion of the toggle clasp to the second set of chain.
    Step 30
    Pass one 6mm jumpring through the 4mm jumpring on the opposite end of one set of chain and the loop on one glue-on bail on the heart component. Close the jumpring.

    Repeat to attach the loop on the second glue-on bail on the heart component to the second set of chain.

    Earrings

    Step 1
    Using flush-cutters cut one 2-foot length of gold-plated 34-gauge wire.
    Step 2
    Pass the length of wire from back side to front through one hole of one gold-plated 13mm perforated disc component leaving approximately 1/2 inch of wire on the end.

    String the onto the length of wire, one opaque black #11 seed bead and one Swarovski crystal ruby 3mm bicone. Pass the wire down through one hole adjacent to the previous hole.
    Step 3
    Pass the wire up through another adjacent hole and string one opaque black #11 seed beads and one Swarovski crystal ruby 3mm bicone. Pass the wire down through one hole adjacent to the previous hole.

    Continue adding Swarovski crystal bicone beads and seed beads; and wire-wrapping until all of the holes in the perforated disc are used leaving approximately 1/2 inch of wire on the end.
    Step 4
    Pass the 1-inch end back through the wire wrap on the back side of the perforated disc to secure the wire in place. Repeat to secure the 1/2 inch end from Step 2.
    Step 5
    After the surface of the perforated disc has been covered, continue to wire wrap adding one Swarovski crystal ruby 3mm bicone to fill in any gaps of crystal. Securing the wire ends to the wire wrap on the back side of the disc.
    Step 6
    Apply a layer of E-6000 to the back side of perforated disc. Place the perforated disc onto the flat pad on one gold-plated 14mm round clip-on earring.
    Step 7
    Using flat-nose pliers bent the prongs of the clip-on earring down to secure the perforated disc in place. Wipe off any excess glue around the edges and let the adhesive dry according to manufacturer's instructions.
