SUMMARY
Carnelian, also known as cornelian, looks good enough to eat, and it's no wonder. This popular flesh to brown-red chalcedony is named for the rich color of the Kornel cherry. Best qualities come from India where the brown tints (from iron oxides) are reddened by exposure to the sun. Most carnelian is heat-treated, however, a process which gives our beads and cabochons their beautiful burnt-orange color. According to legend, carnelian gives timid people the courage they need to speak boldly and well. So…"say it with carnelian" through a variety of bead forms-carved flowers, animals, birds and fish as well as religious symbols, fluted wreaths, lattices and double circles. There's a design for everyone. Dolphin lovers (which probably includes almost everyone) will love the graceful shape and rich orange color of carnelian dolphin.
