Howlite has grey to black streaks--web-like markings and veining. It is named for its discoverer Henry How (a Nova Scotia geologist), and is one of those minerals that is more famous for imitating another mineral. This howlite is dyed a rich lapis lazuli color--it's an inexpensive alternative. Found in California, USA.
Testing for colorfastness is recommended.
