Meet the Designer-Artist Lana (Svetlana) May recalls admiring her grandmother's beaded bride's purse as a child in Uzbekistan. She received her first degree in mechanical engineering and a second degree in clothing and accessory design, then owned a clothing-design firm and began designing jewelry to wear with her evening wear. She now lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and teaches at her home studio in the Phoenix area, all over the USA, and during the Tucson JOGS show every year. She is also the coordinator of the jewelry-making classes for the JOGS show (www.ArtBeadCircle.com). She is the winner of many contests including Bead and Button, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and Fire Mountain Gems and Beads. Lana has authored the book Mixed Media Jewelry Techniques by Schiffer Publishing.
