Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
Arlington, Texas

Describe your artistic style.
I tend to explore the artistry of geometry and mathematics in nature.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
I am inspired by nature and the patterns and sequences found therein.

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
I love seed beads and crystal. Both allow expression of detail and light.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Pearl Garden

What inspired this design?
The green antique brooch I found.

How did it come together?
I designed it around the brooch.

Share Your Background

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
I began beading in the 7th grade, and started my first business venture in the 11th grade.

Who introduced you to beading?
I took a 2 hour class at a summer camp before my 8th grade year.

Do you have an artistic background?
I love to paint, draw and sew when I'm not beading.

What other hobbies do you have?
I volunteer at various clinics and shelters as part of my training to hopefully become a veterinarian.

Beading Success

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Beading is an occasional hobby for me. I bead in between tests or on school breaks. I do have a small online shop as well.

If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
I have an Etsy shop online, NerdyBeadStyle.

Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
I have taught beading classes for young girls, as well as participated in cancer awareness campaigns.

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Design doesn't have to be your entire life. Beading, like any other art, can be relaxing and exciting as a hobby.
