Topics: Finishing a Leather Key Chain

Q.
I found a braided leather cord and would like to make a key chain with it. What is used on the ends of leather?

A.
We offer a variety of cord ends: silver-plated end caps, gold-plated end caps, gold-filled end caps, sterling silver end caps, cord coils, cones and bola tips which would work well with leather cording. When choosing a style, find one that fits the overall feel of your finished piece and has an inside diameter that is larger than the cord you are using. You want to make sure there is room for the cord to fit inside the end you choose. To add the tip to the braided leather, place a dab of E6000® Jewelry and Craft Adhesive or Devcon 2-part Jeweler's Epoxy onto the ends of the cord before inserting into the cord end. Let cure overnight before using your finished key fob for a secure finish.
