Q.
What metal findings (jumprings, headpins, crimps, etc.) can I use with pewter? I know I am not supposed to mix sterling silver with pewter. Thanks for your help!

A.
Generally speaking, use sterling silver or silver-plated findings with silver-colored pewter, silver or silver-colored findings. Use gold-filled or gold-plated findings with gold or gold-colored findings.

These days, there are no hard and fast rules on mixing metal types and colors in your jewelry designs. Jewelry designers are mixing silver, gold, copper, brass and other metals to create beautiful cutting-edge designs.
