Favorite Charity: Talkeetna, Trapper Creek and Willow Alaska Foodbanks
I am disabled and live on a very fixed income. I have had to go to the community foodbanks for the last 20 years on occasion. Our area started out with the Trapper Creek Foodbank. It evolved to include the Talkeetna Foodbank.
I started making jewelry in 2006. I found that I could make a simple earring and put it on a simple printed card and donate them at Christmas time. They are put in the stockings of families with women, and then I make enough to have a basket out for children and extras. I make about 200 pairs, and they give me back what is left. I moved to Willow last winter and have done it here too. It is a great way to give back a little something.
Everyone is experiencing tough times, it just seems to bring a bit of sunshine to the experience of holidays at tough times.
I have also had a lot of people contact me for jewelry repair and bookmark sales.
