Our mission: Shelter Friends is dedicated to the welfare, rehabilitation and re-homing of displaced animals in Josephine County of Southern Oregon.
Shelter Friends is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization that works closely with the Josephine County Animal Shelter. We rely on donations and the generosity of the public and volunteers to support the needs of shelter animals and find them forever homes. On Saturdays throughout the year, Shelter Friends organizes adoption events for cats and dogs at locations such as Petco® and the Washington Federal Bank parking lot across from the Growers' and Artisan Market.
A strong volunteer force and foster program are key elements to the success of our endeavors. Temporary foster homes provide a nurturing atmosphere for an animal's well-being and saves lives by creating room in the shelter for other displaced animals. Kennels, food, and other items are provided for fosters so there is no cost to you. There are currently over 60 kittens in foster homes. I have had the rewarding privilege of attending events and fostering an amazing puppy named Brandy. I also provided Butch with a home for a few days before another foster could bring him to their house.
Shelter Friends has a Facebook page to promote and network the animals in hopes of finding them homes: Shelter Friends - Josephine County Oregon. Our website is: savethewhiskers.org
