Single-Strand Necklace with Chrysocolla Gemstone Beads and Swarovski Crystal Beads

The greens and blues of this necklace bring to mind the ocean on a summer's day--because of the richness and depth of color, this necklace may be inspiration for a new design in your upcoming fall and winter jewelry.

Attaching the clasp

STEP 1
1 Cut one piece of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire, 12 inches long. String onto the wire, one crimp tube and one side of the clasp, then loop the beading wire back through the crimp, leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Pull the crimp tight against the clasp. Place a small amount of adhesive inside the crimp (optional). Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using wire nippers, trim excess wire from the short end.
STEP 2
String onto the beading wire, one 9x8.5mm sterling silver coil bead and one 10mm chrysocolla round bead; repeat eight more times for a total of nine pairs. Make sure to end with a 10mm chrysocolla round bead.

Attaching side one to the multi-strand center section

STEP 3
Place two crimp tubes onto the beading wire after the 10mm chrysocolla bead.

Note: Two crimps are used on each side of this attachment area due to the increased weight and length of wire under the large tube bead.

Create a loop on the single strand beading wire by bringing the end back though both crimps, leaving approximately 1/4 inch. Make sure the crimp bead is snug against the last bead. Do not pull so tightly though, that the beading wire is rigid, the wire should coil up easily in the palm of your hand--if it doesn't, let out a little slack. Place a small amount of adhesive inside each crimp (optional). Using the crimping pliers, crimp both of the crimp tubes.
STEP 4
Cut three strands of beading wire (12, 14, and 16 inches). Line the three strands up, matching the ends. Place two crimp tubes over all three strands. Loop all three strands through the loop made on the single strand in Step 3, and string all the strands back through the two crimp tubes, leaving the loop approximately 1/4 inch in length, and leaving ends of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Place a small amount of adhesive inside both of the crimps (optional). Using the crimping pliers, crimp both crimp tubes. Trim the excess wire from the short end of the single strand and the triple strands. Finally, string on one 19x10mm large hole Hill Tribes silver tube bead to cover the loops and crimps.

Assembling the multi-strand center section

Strand #1

STEP 5
Using the 12-inch piece of Accu-Flex beading wire, string on two 8mm aquamarine bicone Swarovski crystals and one 18x10 marquise chrysocolla bead. Repeat this pattern 11 more times for a total of 12 sets. String on two 8mm aquamarine bicone Swarovski crystals. Place a bonding clip onto the end of Strand #1 then set it aside while you finish the next two strands.

Strand #2

STEP 6
Using the 14-inch piece of Accu-Flex beading wire, string on two 8mm aquamarine bicone Swarovski crystals and one 18x10 marquise chrysocolla. Repeat the pattern 13 more times for a total of 14 sets. String on two 8mm aquamarine bicone Swarovski crystals. Place a bonding clip onto the end of Strand #2 then set it aside while you finish the next strand.

Strand #3

STEP 7
Using the 16-inch piece of Accu-Flex beading wire, string two 8mm aquamarine bicone Swarovski crystals and one 20x15mm pear chrysocolla bead. Repeat the pattern 12 more times for a total of 13 sets. String on two 8mm aquamarine bicone Swarovski crystals.

Attaching the multi-strand center section to side two

STEP 8
Remove the bonding clips from the strands. Place two crimp tubes over all three strands of beading wire. Bring the ends of the beading wire back through the crimp tubes, creating a loop about 1/4 inch in length. Make sure the crimp bead is snug against the last bead in all three strands. Place a small amount of adhesive inside both of the crimps (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp both of the crimp tubes. Trim any excess wire.
STEP 9
Cut a piece of Accu-Flex beading wire 12 inches long. Place two crimp tubes onto the beading wire. Loop the beading wire through the loop made in Step 8, then pass the beading wire back through the two crimp tubes, leaving the loop approximately 1/4 inch long, and one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Place a small amount of adhesive inside both of the crimps (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp both of the crimp tubes. Trim the excess wire from the short end of beading wire. String on one large hole Hill Tribes silver tube bead to cover the loops and crimps.

Assembling side two

STEP 10
String on one 10mm chrysocolla round bead and one 9x8.5mm sterling silver coil bead. Repeat the pattern eight more times for a total of nine pairs. Make sure to end with one 9x8.5mm sterling silver coil bead.

Attaching the second half of the clasp

STEP 11
To finish the necklace, place one crimp tube onto the beading wire after the last bead added in Step 10. Pass the beading wire through the loop on the second |half of the clasp then through the crimp tube. Pull the wire snugly so the crimp is closer to the clasp and so there is no slack along the entire length of the necklace--yet not so tight it is rigid. Place a small amount of adhesive inside the crimp (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Trim the excess wire from the short end.
