Earrings with Swarovski Crystal Drops and Antiqued Gold Filigree Beads

Swarovski crystal teardrop beads in red Christmas color sparkle with the spirit of the holiday season. Great project for beading classes, group gifts and dressing up your holiday style.

STEP 1
Using the side-cutting pliers, shorten the spiral bead cone by clipping three wire loops from the open end of the bead cone.
STEP 2
Using the flat-nose pliers, grasp the open side of the loop on a gold-plated eyepin and gently twist it open. Pass the open loop through the hole of a Swarovski crystal teardrop bead and close the loop. Thread the trimmed spiral bead cone onto the eyepin.
STEP 3
Using the chain-nose pliers, grip the wire as close as possible to the spiral bead cone and bend the wire to form a 90 degree (right) angle.
STEP 4
Using the side-cutting pliers, cut the eyepin to approximately 1/4 inch past the bend.
STEP 5
Grasp the clipped end of the wire with the tip of the round-nose pliers. While pressing the thumbnail of your non-dominant hand into the 90 degree angle of the wire, rotate the pliers away from your body so that the wire is wound around the barrel, forming a complete circle, centered over the beads. If necessary, adjust the loop so it is centered.
STEP 6
String onto one gold-plated eyepin:
  • 5.2mm antiqued gold-plated pewter dotted rondelle bead
  • 6mm antiqued gold-plated brass filigree bead
  • 5.2mm antiqued gold-plated pewter dotted rondelle bead
STEP 7
Using the chain-nose pliers, grip the wire, as close as possible, to the dotted rondelle bead and bend the wire to form a 90 degree (right) angle.
STEP 8
Using the side-cutting pliers, cut the headpin to approximately 1/4 inch past the bend.
STEP 9
Grasp the clipped end of the wire with the tip of the round-nose pliers. While pressing the thumbnail of your non-dominant hand into the 90 degree angle of the wire, rotate the pliers away from your body so that the wire is wound around the barrel, forming a complete circle, centered over the beads. If necessary, adjust the loop so it is centered.
STEP 10
Using the flat-nose pliers, grasp the open side of the loop of the eyepin from Step 6 and gently twist it open. Pass the open loop through the loop formed above the spiral cone bead. Close the loop.
STEP 11
Using the flat-nose pliers, grasp the open side of a jumpring and gently twist it. Pass the open jumpring through the loop formed above the dotted rondelle bead and through the loop of a Renaissance-style pewter earstud. Close the jumpring.
STEP 12
Repeat Steps 1 - 11 to complete the second earring.
