Single-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Swarovski Crystal and Cultured Freshwater Pearls

Focal Piece

STEP 1
Draw two 1-1/2 inch diameter circles on a 32-gauge sheet of nickel silver. Use scissors to cut out the circles. Use a ball peen hammer on a steel bench block to flatten the circles and lightly texture one side of one of the circles.
STEP 2
Use a permanent marker to mark five holes equal distance around the edge of the first nickel silver 1-1/2 inch disc, 1/8 inch from the edge. Using EUROTOOL® hole punch pliers, punch one 1.25mm hole at each of the five marked positions on the disc.
STEP 3
Place a brad through the loop on the top of a silver-plated 32x23.5mm oval setting (back to front) and the first punched hole on the nickel silver 1-1/2 inch disc (back to front), then use a ball peen hammer and a steel bench block to finish the rivet.

Repeat to attach two silver-plated 32x23.5mm oval settings and two gunmetal-plated 32x23.5mm oval settings to each of the four remaining holes on the nickel silver 1-1/2 inch disc.
STEP 4
Mix Araldite® Standard Epoxy according to manufacturer's instructions. Place a thin layer of adhesive on the back of one Swarovski 30x22mm oval amethyst fancy stone and a small amount inside the first silver-plated 32x23.5mm oval setting. Press the stone into the setting. Repeat to attach a Swarovski 30x22mm oval amethyst fancy stone into the silver setting on the opposite side and two Swarovski 30x22mm oval vitrail fancy stones into two gunmetal-plated settings and one 30x22mm oval Montana fancy stone into the remaining silver-plated setting. Let the adhesive set for 90 minutes. Make sure to use proper ventilation when using this product.
STEP 5
Using flush-cutters, cut one 30-inch length of silver-plated 34-gauge round wire. Wrap the wire through the first set of holes two to three times on an 18mm perforated disk to secure the wire. Pass the wire from the back side to the front, through one Swarovski 4mm bicone Montana crystal and one silver-lined clear seed bead. Pass the wire back through the Swarovski 4mm bicone Montana crystal and the same hole on the disk to the back. Pass the wire through the next hole on the perforated disc and repeat to attach a crystal and seed bead on top of each of the holes in a random pattern using eight Swarovski 4mm bicone Montana crystals, ten Swarovski 4mm bicone amethyst crystals, and eleven Swarovski 4mm bicone vitrail crystals. Wrap the end of the wire through the last set of holes to secure the wire to the bottom of the disc.
STEP 6
Using a pair of flat-nose and chain-nose pliers bend the last 1/4 inch of each petal to 90 degrees on a silver-plated 42mm fancy flower.
STEP 7
Place a layer E-6000® Jewelry and Craft Adhesive to both the back of the beaded 18mm perforated disc from Step 5 and the inside of the silver-plated 42mm fancy flower with the bent petals from Step 6. Press the beaded disc into the inside of the flower. Finish bending the edges of the petals over the beaded disc.
STEP 8
Position an unaltered silver-plated 42mm fancy flower in the center of the nickel silver 1-1/2 inch disc. Position the flower so the petals are resting between the riveted 32x23.5mm oval settings on the disc. Place a layer E-6000 Adhesive to both the front of the disc and the back of the flower to adhere in place.

Repeat to attach the silver-plated 42mm fancy flower with the beaded 18mm perforated disc from Step 7 on top of the unaltered silver-plated 42mm fancy flower. Position the flowers so the petals are lined up on top of each other.
STEP 9
Using flush-cutters, cut petals off of a silver-plated 42mm fancy flower to create five individual petals.
STEP 10
Turn the disc assembly over. Position the individual petals on the back of the disc with approximately 1/4 inch of the petals over the edge between the five riveted 32x23.5mm oval settings. Place a layer of adhesive on both the back of the disc and the front of the petals to adhere in place.

Repeat to attach the second textured nickel silver 1-1/2 inch disc to the back of the petals.
STEP 11
Repeat to attach a Swarovski 4mm flat back amethyst crystal on top of each rivet on the front of the disk. Repeat to attach one Swarovski 4mm flat back amethyst crystal and one Swarovski 3mm flat back amethyst crystal to each side of the 4mm crystal on each of the flat petals on the disc between the riveted settings.

Let the adhesive set for 24-72 hours for maximum strength.

Necklace

STEP 12
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the ring portion of the toggle clasp. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach a jumpring to the bar portion of the toggle clasp.
STEP 13
Using flush-cutters, cut a 12-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire. String onto the wire one crimp tube and a 1/2 inch piece of French wire. Pass the wire through the jumpring attached to the ring portion of the toggle clasp and back through the crimp tube leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Pull the crimp tight against the French wire and the jumpring so the French wire is formed into a nicely curved tube. Place a small amount of adhesive inside the crimp (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using flush-cutters, trim the excess wire from the short end.

For a more finished look, place a crimp cover over the crimp tube then gently close it.
STEP 14
String onto the beading wire the following:
  • One Swarovski 6mm bicone Montana crystal
  • One silver-plated 3x2mm corrugated rondelle bead
  • One Swarovski 8mm round vitrail crystal
  • One silver-plated 6x2mm beaded rondelle bead

String one crimp tube and a 1/2 inch of French wire on the end of the beading wire. Pass the wire through the center loop on the outer petal to the left of the Swarovski 30x22mm faceted oval vitrail fancy stone setting on the focal piece and back through the crimp, and then pull the wire snugly so the crimp and the French wire are closer to the jumpring. Make sure there is no slack along the length of the first part of the necklace. Place a small amount of gel adhesive inside the crimp (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using flush-cutters, trim excess wire from the end. Place a crimp cover over the crimp.
STEP 16
Repeat Steps 13 - 15 to attach the second strand of the necklace to the bar portion of the toggle clasp and the center loop on the outer petal to the right of the Swarovski 30x22mm faceted oval vitrail fancy stone setting on the focal piece.

Earrings

STEP 1
Mix Araldite epoxy according to manufacturer's instructions. Place a thin layer of adhesive on the back of a Swarovski 30x22mm faceted oval vitrail fancy stone and a small amount inside the first silver-plated 32x23.5mm oval setting. Press the stone into the setting. Repeat to attach a second Swarovski 30x22mm faceted oval vitrail fancy stone into a second setting. Let the adhesive set for 90 minutes.
