Single-Strand Necklace with Swarovski Crystal Beads and Rivolis and Seed Beads

Capture a Swarovski crystal rivoli with a netting of bicone crystal beads and Delica® seed beads. A simple yet elegant design with a single-strand necklace of gold aurum and light satin Siam Swarovski beads that sets the stage for a breathtaking Swarovski rivoli pendant.

Creating the Pendant

STEP 1
Using wire nippers or FiberFuse™ Thread Burner, cut a 2-yard length of FireLine®.
STEP 2
Add a needle onto one end of the length of thread. Thread on one forest green seed bead and one 6mm bicone crystal. Repeat for eight sets.
STEP 3
Move the crystal and bead sets to the end of the thread, leaving a 5-inch tail. Using the tail and the working thread, tie a surgeon's knot.

Place the knot close to the beads, forming a ring with the crystals and the beads.
STEP 4
Pass the needle through the seed bead next to the crystal you came out of in Step 2.
Pick up seven seed beads then pass the needle through the seed bead on the other side of the crystal.
Repeat all the way around the ring of beads.
STEP 5
Pass your needle through the next four seed beads in the arc of seed beads above where your needle is positioned.

Your needle will be exiting the center seed bead in the row of seven seed beads around the side of the bicone crystal.
STEP 6
Pick up one seed bead, one bicone crystal and one seed bead. Pass through the center seed bead of the next arc of seed beads around the next bicone crystal in the ring.

Repeat this step all the way around the ring, passing through the first seed bead added in this step.
STEP 7
Pick up seven seed beads then pass the needle through the seed bead on the other side of the crystal and then through the seed bead next to the next crystal in the ring.

Repeat all the way around the ring, adding arcs of seed beads on the other side of the bicone crystals, passing through the first seed bead added in this step.
STEP 8
Pass your needle through the next four seed beads in the arc of seed beads above where your needle is positioned. Pick up one bicone crystal then pass through the center seed bead of the next arc of seed beads around the next bicone crystal in the ring.

Repeat this half-way around the ring. Place the rivoli into the netting, nestling it into place so it is contained within the sides you are creating.

Continue adding bicone crystals until you have made it all the way around the ring. Pull the thread tight so the rivoli is captured and secure.
STEP 9
Pick up 12 seed beads. Slide the beads toward the pendant. While keeping the seed beads in place, pass the needle back through the 6th bead in the row, leaving seven beads above and five beads below.

Pick up five seed beads then pass the needle through the seed bead and crystal on the other side of where you started, forming a bail.

Pass the needle back through the forest green seed beads to reinforce the bail.
STEP 10
Weave the thread toward the tail thread from Step 3. Once you have the tail thread and working thread in the same spot, tie a surgeon's knot to secure the threads. Weave the needle through the bicone right next to where you tied the knot so the knot is hidden within it. Continue to pass the thread through a few more beads. Use the wire nippers or FiberFuse™ Thread Burner to cut the ends of the thread so they are not visible.
STEP 11
Add a jumpring to the bail you formed then incorporate the riovli pendant onto a neckwire, or a necklace as shown below.

Creating the Necklace

STEP 1
Using chain-nose pliers, open a fancy gold-plated jumpring and thread it through the finished seed-beaded loop on the rivoli pendant. Close the jumpring. Set aside until Step 5.
STEP 2
Measure and cut a 20-inch length of Dijon gold Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire. Thread onto the beading wire one gold-plated Accu-Guard wire protector and one half of the twisted toggle clasp. Pull the loop of the toggle clasp up into the loop of the wire protector and then pass both working ends of the beading wire through a gold-plated crimp bead, leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Pull the crimp bead snug against the ends of the wire protector. Using your crimping pliers, crimp the crimp bead. Using the flush-cutters, cut the 1-inch tail. Place a crimp cover over the crimp bead then, using chain-nose pliers or the front notch of the crimping pliers, close the crimp cover.
STEP 3
String onto the beading wire a total of 22 crystal aurum 2X Swarovski bicone crystal beads.
STEP 4
String a silver-lined emerald green Delica seed bead, a light Siam satin Swarovski crystal bicone bead, another seed bead and seven crystal aurum 2X Swarovski bicone crystal beads onto the beading wire. Repeat this pattern three times for a total of four sets.
STEP 5
String on a seed bead, a light Siam satin Swarovski crystal bicone bead, the gold-plated fancy jumpring attached to the rivoli pendant, a light Siam satin Swarovski crystal bicone bead and a seed bead.
STEP 6
String the second half of the necklace by threading on seven crystal aurum 2X Swarovski bicone crystal beads, a silver-lined emerald green Delica seed bead, a light Siam satin Swarovski crystal bicone bead and another seed bead. Repeat this pattern three times for a total of four sets.
STEP 7
Finish the second half of the necklace by stringing on 22 crystal aurum 2X Swarovski bicone crystal beads, a crimp bead, a gold-plated wire-protector and the second half of the twisted toggle clasp. Pull the loop of the toggle clasp up into the loop of the wire protector and then pass the beading wire back through the crimp bead. Pull the wire snug so the crimp bead and the wire protector are closer to the beads. Make sure there is very little slack along the length of the necklace, yet not taut, so it will have a nice drape.

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp bead. Cut the tail of the beading wire. Place a crimp cover over the crimp bead then, using chain-nose pliers or the front notch of the crimping pliers, close the crimp cover.
