Single-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Plastic Beads, Plated Brass Beads and Waxed Cotton Cord

STEP 1
Using a pair of flush-cutters, cut the following:
  • One 3-1/2 inch length of 20-gauge round Wrapit® jeweler's bronze wire
  • Eight 1-9/10 inch lengths of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain

Tassels

STEP 2
Using a pair of scissors cut nine 12-inch lengths of white Silkon® thread. String a beading needle onto one 12-inch length of thread.
STEP 3
Tie an overhand knot at the end of the thread. Place a small amount of adhesive (Loctite) on the knot (optional).
STEP 4
String onto the thread the following components:
  • Two 3mm round gold-plated beads
  • Ten sets of one 4mm round silver glass druk bead and one 4mm heishi gold-plated bead
  • Three sets of one 5mm round silver-plated bead and one 4mm heishi gold-plated bead
  • One 6mm round silver plated bead
  • One 4mm heishi gold-plated bead
  • One 7mm round silver plated bead
  • One 4mm double cone silver-plated bead
  • One 2.5mm round gold-plated bead
Pass the thread back up through all of the beads starting with the 5mm double cone silver-plated bead.

Use a bead stopper to hold the beads on the strand.

Repeat to create a total of nine beaded tassels.
STEP 5
Match the top of the nine beaded tassels. Using all nine strands, tie an overhand knot at the top of the last 3mm round gold-plated bead to hold the tassels together. Place a small amount of adhesive on the knot.
STEP 6
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers wrap the end of one 3-1/2 inch length of 20-gauge round jeweler's bronze wire around the base of the knot. Continue to wrap the wire around the knot to hold it securely in place.
STEP 7
String onto the wire one gold-plated 16mm bead cap. Finish the end with a wrapped loop.

Center Piece

STEP 8
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 20-gauge 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the first link on eight 1-9/10 inch lengths of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach a jumpring to the last link on the eight 1-9/10 inch lengths of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain.

Position the jumprings and chains around the 30mm fluted round metallic yellow plastic bead with the jumprings encircling the hole on each end of the bead and the chains in the grooves of the fluting on the bead. Use a small amount of glue on the chains closer to the jumprings to hold them in place on the bead.
STEP 9
String one gold-plated 5mm corrugated double cone bead, one chain-covered 30mm fluted round metallic yellow plastic bead, and one gold-plated 5mm corrugated double cone bead onto a 3-1/2 inch eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a 30mm fluted round metallic yellow plastic bead beading link.

Necklace

STEP 10
Using a pair of scissors cut one 28-inch length of 2mm white waxed cotton cord and one 10-inch length of 1mm white waxed cotton cord.
STEP 11
String an 18-gauge 6mm jumpring onto the 28-inch length of 2mm white waxed cotton cord. Fold the cord in half. String onto both strands of cord one 15x8mm faceted rondelle crystal placing it next to the jumpring.

Make a 3/4 inch loop with the 10-inch length of 1mm white cotton cord and hold it with your thumb. Tightly wind the other end of the cord around both 2mm white waxed cotton cords and loop toward the crystal rondelle. Run the end of the cord through the loop and then pull the other end. The top end is enclosed in the coil. Tighten and place a small amount of G-S Hypo Fabric adhesive on the end before pulling it inside the 2mm cords to make sure it holds. Trim the ends of the cord.
STEP 12
Pass one end of the 2mm white cotton cord through a cord end. Place a small amount of glue on the inside of the cord end (optional). Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, compress the cord end onto the cord. Repeat to attach the opposite end through a cord end.
STEP 13
Open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the toggle ring portion of the clasp and the loop on the first cord end. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the toggle bar portion of the clasp to the second cord end.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using a pair of flush-cutters cut four 3/4-inch lengths of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain.
STEP 2
String one silver-plated 7mm round bead onto a 1-1/2 inch eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire. Repeat to create a total of two silver-plated 7mm round beading links.

Repeat to create two 16x14m faceted barrel metallic yellow beading links using one gold-plated bead cap, one 16x14m faceted barrel metallic yellow bead, and one gold-plated bead cap on a 1.5-inch eyepin.
STEP 3
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on an earwire and the loop on a silver-plated 7mm round beading link. Close the jumpring.

Open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the opposite loop on the silver-plated 7mm round beading link and the first link on two 3/4 inch lengths of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain. Close the jumpring.

Open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the last link on one 3/4 inch length of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain and the first loop on a 16x14m faceted barrel metallic yellow beading link. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the second 3/4 inch length of gold-plated 3x2.5mm cable chain to the second loop on the 16x14mm faceted barrel metallic yellow beading link.
