Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
I am very inspired by nature. Whenever I have a beader's block and can't figure out what colors to combine or what to incorporate into my new designs I saddle up my horse and go for a ride. It never fails that traipsing through the hills amongst the wild flowers with the mountains in the background that I come home and have a new idea to try.
What medium do you work with mostly?
My medium is mainly beads but because I also make my own beads I also work with molten glass.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
What inspired this design?
I needed a way to show what could be done with one of my handmade mermaid beads and what better choice than a mermaid amongst seashells and seed bead fringe.
How did it come together?
This design was mostly planned in my head before I started it. It is a very complex looking piece that is relatively simple to make.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
I learned to string beads when I was 6 years old and have been doing so steadily ever since. I love detailed work and I suspect that has a lot to do with why I so enjoy seed beading.
Where and How do you sell your jewelry?
I sell my work in many ways including local and national retail bead stores, gift shops, Etsy, eBay and my website.
What inspired you to donate your bead(s) to Circle of Hope?
It's a good cause.
