What inspires you as a designer-artist? Mother Nature is the best inspiration for me.
What medium do you work with mostly? Polymer clay. I love it because each time I blend colors, even if it doesn't turn out the way I intended, it is still usually a happy surprise, and inspires a piece I wouldn't have thought of, so I am constantly challenged in my design process.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making? I used to paint oil landscapes, and one day I saw a DIY jewelry show on TV about polymer clay. The color blending process is very similar to color blending paints, and since I love jewelry, I went out and bought the supplies, and was hooked after firing my first beads.
Where and How do you sell your jewelry? So far, I've sold to friends. I have shown my work to local boutiques, and some have expressed interest in purchasing pieces, so I am very excited to begin selling locally!
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story? Golden Moss
What inspired this design? I love the colors and organic minerals and rock found in nature, and I primarily form beads that have that look.
How did it come together? I made the beads first, and had them for quite awhile until a bail I saw on your website inspired the rest of the design. It all flowed together at that point.
What inspired you to donate your bead(s) to Circle of Hope?
There is a lot of cancer in my family, and I also lost a very close friend to cancer. My outlook on donating to cancer research is that it is an investment in my possible future.
