Beading the Cabochon

STEP 1
Picture 1

Figure 1

Figure 2

Make a full-size sketch of the pendant or photocopy picture 1, enlarging it to the desired size. Transfer the sketch onto the fabric. Glue the cabochon. Sew the basic row in C, D, E beads (Fig. 1), see Pic. 1 for color changes. Bead around the cabochon in C, D, E and B (Fig. 2).

Embroider 9 rows in D from one side of the pendant and 7 rows in E from the other side (Fig. 1). See the sketch for the length of the rows. When the row is completed go through all the beads, pulling tightly on the thread. Trim all the excess fabric close to the beads of the last row. Put the beaded cabochon onto the back side of a piece of leather and trace its outline using a marker. Remove the cabochon and cut out the pattern. Carefully fix the leather to the back side of the cabochon.

Embroidering Around the Cabochon

STEP 2
Figure 3

Figure 4

Figure 5

Figure 6

Start embroidering your cab, going through the beads of the basic row (Pic. 1). Alter the way of beading within each circle row (Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5). Work three rows in this manner. Do not forget to alter the type of beads within each circle row as well. Work like this: where there are D beads in the basic row use D and E beads for the next three rows, following (Fig. 3) as a guide; Now start embroidering along the edge of the pendant: follow Fig. 3 to work along the D bead sector and Fig. 5 along the E sector. Using B, D, E and F work a blue embellishment at the bottom (Fig. 6), placing it between the embroidered sectors.

The Right (Blue) Rope

STEP 3
Figure 7

Figure 8

Work the right rope in B, C, E and F, starting from the pendant and moving to the clasp ends (Fig. 7). Repeat rows 7 to 12 of Fig. 7 for 3 times and then continue the work following Fig. 8. Repeat rows 1 to 6 of Fig. 8 for seven times. While working the very last row, do not attach F beads. Instead, connect the vertical bead rows with each other, pulling tightly on the thread.

The Left Rope

STEP 4
Figure 9

Figure 10

Figure 11
Work the left rope 19 to 20cm long in D, E, (Fig. 9), and attach it to the top part of the pendant. Embroider the inner side of the rope in D, (Fig. 10). Work 2 rows for the outer side of the rope in D, E, (Fig. 11).

Attach 3-strand connector to the ends of the ropes. Now attach jumprings and a lobster clasp to your necklace.
