The Cabochon

STEP 1
Figure 1

Figure 2
Glue the cabochon to the fabric. Let the glue dry. Bead around the cabochon in I, trying to sew seed beads very close to the cabochon (Fig. 1). Bead the cabochon in peyote stitch in H (Fig. 2). The number of the rows depends on the cabochon thickness. Work the last row in J and go through the beads of this row for several times, pulling the thread taut. Leave about 1/16 inch (2mm to 3mm) space around the cabochon and trim away all the excess fabric.

Sew a twisted rope to the free fabric space around the cabochon, so that the end of the rope were of the same length and meet at the top of the cabochon. Fix the ends of the ropes together.

The Poppy Bead

STEP 2
Picture 1
Take the fabric and cut out a circle 1-3/16 inches (30mm) in diameter. Sew lampworked poppy bead at the centre and frame the poppy bead by the ends of the twisted rope. Thus we connect the two elements by the twisted rope.

Put three lengths of soutache braid together and connect them with a few stitches about 2 feet 3 inches (70cm) from the end. Cut the soutache ends and melt them with a cigarette lighter. See Pic. 1 for the pattern and fix soutache around the cabochon and the poppy bead. Fix the soutache ends together at the spot where they meet.

Pendants

STEP 3
Picture 2
Now continue working with each soutache end separately. Firstly shape the loops as shown in Pic. 2 and fix them by I, J, A and E. Then work two pendants, using J, K and blue bud lampworked beads. Work one more pendant using G and poppy bud lampworked bead. Cut the soutache ends, melt them with cigarette lighter and sew them to the back side of the fabric.

Soutache Loops

STEP 4
Picture 3
Using the second soutache end, work out the pattern shown in Pic. 3. Fix the soutache ends by I, J and A. Cut off the ends, melt them with a cigarette lighter and fix the ends to the wrong side of the fabric.

Outer Backing and Finishing

STEP 5
Take a piece of leather and cut an oval 2x2-3/4 inches (50x70mm) and a circle 1-9/16 inches (40mm). Glue the leather to the back side of the necklace. Work two strings of all the remaining beads, altering them with I seed beads, as shown in the photograph. Attach a clasp.
