Fall & Winter 2006 Fashion Trends
The Fire Mountain Gems Style Team has been hard at work uncovering this season's hottest trends in fashion accessories from New York Fashion Week (THE place to find out what's hot and what's not), and we've got exciting news for you - jewelry runs the style gamut this fall and winter!

And not only is it running the gamut, it's leaping from end to end, bringing opposites together...simultaneously. So get ready to have some fun linking together clunky gold chains with delicate pink pearls - layers and layers of them!

Let rich textures and dark palettes set the tone for a "cozy" mood. Layer muted, earthy tones with deep olives, browns and lodens. Contrast various shades of gray with plum, raspberry, and eggplant. Sleek elegance is also gracing this season's wardrobe (and jewelry box) with supple femininity.

Jewels and metals are huge - literally! The bigger, the better. OR, you can keep it dainty. Or both. The combinations are limitless. Accessories should be uncomplicated and refined, interesting but not distracting.
Simple Elegance
Think pink, pretty and polished! Shapes are sleek and simplified, colors have softened, and rich textures combine with fine materials to create this season's luxurious, simple elegance. Less is more - making a statement this fall is all about well worked design details and simple tailoring.
Jewels and Metals
The look this season mixes the most contrasting ideas into simplified works of art. With approachable design on the rise, unfussy accessories bring warmth and consistency t the street. Gemstones and crystals are particularly popular in deep neutrals, balancing the electric gold and silver metals.

Metals are a sure fit for all designs. Be bold with gold! Links are adorning almost every accessory and the more links, the better - long and layered! Whether it's necklaces or earrings... think links!
A Feminine Flair
From rosettes to lace and filigree, this season's accessories rise to the occasion with an emphasis on feminine flattery. Fall and winter will bring back elements of allure and exquisite femininity reminiscent of the 1920s. Rediscover Old English country style classics. The consensus is softer lines and fancy frills, with feminine chic at the heart of the season.
Holiday Fashion 2006

Holiday Fashion 2006
This year's holiday colors and trends are royally inspired. Rich colors reign in dark red, purple and black tones. Trends include elaborate cross and crown pendants, with layers and layers of muted chain, lace and velvet ribbon trimming necklines.
Southwestern
The Fire Mountain Style Team has just returned from the MAGIC Marketplace and The Accessories Show in Las Vegasand we're saddling up for an emerging southwestern trend.

Get ready to unveil your cowgirl and cowboy side! The southwest style has been boldly reworked to reflect a modern take on classic western styling with chunky, rough-cut turquoise, gold feathers, bold-belted statements, western style shirts and lots and lots of denim.

Mix rough-cut turquoise stones with delicate chain or wire, embellish belt buckles with Swarovski® crystal components or gemstone chips, and dangle beaded tassels from bags, boots and belts. Add horse and western-themed charms to your jewelry and accessories designs for a subtle hint of rodeo chic.
Buttons and Coins
Create sophisticated style by adorning anything from military jackets to ponchos with buttons. Use crystal buttons as earrings or incorporate mother of pearl buttons into a long necklace design for a soft, feminine look. Search for vintage or estate buttons to add a sense of history and uniqueness to your look.

Make it interesting! Accessorize with ancient coins - add to bracelets, necklaces, jackets and more. Weave double- or triple- strand length of leather, lace or ribbon through buttonholes and coin loops for antiquated adventure.
Pendants
The layered look is back, with simple elegance and femininity. What's new is mixing these precious layered jewel strands with long chains highlighting a single pendant, or a cluster or similar pendants.

Mixing dainty chains with large rough stones is prominent in fall/winter fashion. Your best bet is to use gemstones of rich textures and dark palettes with antique or vintage metals. Asymmetrical stones make excellent pendants when wire wrapped. And, with cabochons back in style, you can create unique pendants using sterling silver or gold cabochon settings!
