I have been told that the coating on the back of some of the rivolis can come off and that I should coat them with something to protect them. Is that true and, if so, what do you recommend for protecting them?
The Swarovski company uses a special vacuum coating process that adheres a silver mirror finish to the back of the rivoli, creating extra reflection and brilliance within the stone. This coating process ensures that the silver backing is very durable and highly resistant to scratching, chipping or pealing.
Mona Lisa Metal Leaf top coat sealant is a general use product for top-coat protection, and is safe for most surfaces like hand-painted glass beads and on polyclay beads. You can use this on the rivoli coating, if you'd like.
