Favorite Charity: Donna gives personally to the people she meets
I give away lots of jewelry to others. With a tip, I will notice if the waitress has pierced ears or not, wears gold or silver, and what colors she has on if it is not a uniform, and give a pair of earrings to her with a tip. I have given to anyone who has been helpful or looks like they need a smile. Responses vary, but my favorite is, "you've made my day!" People need a lift, sometimes I see their responses and sometimes not. Recently I gave a pair to a young lady that led us to our table for dinner, she apologized that her English was not good. It was just fine, and she had only been in the country for two weeks. I happened to have a pair with a USA heart charm and welcomed her to America. I also have given dozens to a local women's center; when women leave home in a hurry, they do not have jewelry. I thought it would give a boost to their self-esteem and help to be dressed for a job interview. I don't always get to see the reaction, but I know they are thankful. Thankful or not, people need to know someone cares. I have given jewelry for prizes to young girls and have brought some of the more manly bracelets to little boys. Not to blow my own horn, but there are many ways to give.
