Favorite Charity: American Cancer Society Relay for Life
I knew of this charity several years before I became involved with it. My youngest daughter was asked to be on a Relay for Life team 12 yrs ago. My father died of cancer in 1994 so I decided to join my daughter on the team. It was such an emotional experience. I have been involved in and on a team at our local Relay for Life ever since.
It is a way to honor my father and the many others that have been taken from us by this horrible disease, the ones still fighting cancer, and survivors of the disease. Three years ago, Relay for Life took on a new meaning for me as I myself was diagnosed with cancer. I'm happy to say it was caught very early on and now I am cancer free.
Every year I make jewelry for our relay team to sell as a fundraiser. I donate all my time as well as the jewelry to this cause. It has been a very successful fundraiser for our team.
