Bib-Style Necklace and Earring Set with Fimo® Polymer Clay and Magic-Glos® Top Coat

Necklace

STEP 1
Begin by conditioning the Fimo® Professional black clay as well as each one of the Fimo Professional true color polymer clays.

Tip: A small amount of clay can be conditioned in your hands by kneading, stretching, or rolling. If conditioning is done this way, be sure to clean your hands to ensure residual color is not leftover prior to working with the next color.
STEP 2
Using the Fimo Professional color chart, combine and create the color of your choice for the base clay.

Roll the mixed clay through the Polyclay roller reducing the thickness to about 1.0 - 1.5mm.
STEP 3
Using the Fimo Professional true color polymer clays, combine your choice of colors for the palette of clay.

Roll the mixed clay through the Polyclay roller reducing the thickness.
STEP 4
Remove a thin strip of the mixed true color clay and place it on top of the base clay.

Repeat to add thin strips of the mixed true color clay until you’ve reached your desired look.

Tip: Several layers of the mixed true color clay can be added to get to the look you want.
STEP 5
Cut out one crescent shape approximately 45mm in length from the clay. Repeat to cut out a total of six crescent clay shapes approximately 45mm in length.

Repeat to cut two crescent clay shapes approximately 57mm in length. Repeat to cut out one 20mm circle.

Bake according to manufacturer’s instructions.
STEP 6
Using a drill, place a hole toward one corner of one 45mm crescent. Repeat to add a hole on the opposite corner of the crescent.

Repeat for the remaining crescents.
STEP 7
Continue to add holes in the following locations on the crescents and circle:
  • One hole approximately 25mm from the left corner hole on the wider side on one 45mm crescent
  • One hole approximately 25mm from the right corner hole on the wider side on one 45mm crescent
  • One hole approximately 8mm from the left corner hole on the wider side on one 45mm crescent
  • One hole approximately 8mm from the right corner hole on the wider side on one 45mm crescent
  • One hole approximately 33mm from the left corner hole on the wider side on one 57mm crescent
  • One hole approximately 33mm from the right corner hole on the wider side of the previous 57mm crescent
  • One hole at the top of the circle
STEP 8
Grind, smooth and polish the edges of one 45mm crescent. Repeat for each of the crescent and circle shapes.

Place a toothpick in each of the corners of one 45mm crescent. Repeat to add toothpicks to each of the holes on the crescent and circle shapes.
STEP 9
Beginning in the center of one crescent shape, apply Magic-Glos until it covers the entire shape.

Cure according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Note: Apply additional layers of Magic-Glos until the dome has reached the desired height.
STEP 10
Repeat Step 9 for the remaining crescent and circle shapes.

Remove the toothpicks.
STEP 11
Cut one 8-inch and one 5-1/2 inch length of cable chain.

Necklace Assembly

STEP 12
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the right corner hole on one 45mm crescent shape (use one of the crescent shapes that only has two holes) and the first link on the 5-1/2 inch length of cable chain then close.
STEP 13
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the left corner hole on the previous 45mm crescent shape then close.

Pass one 6mm jumpring through the right corner hole on one 45mm crescent shape (use the crescent shape that has the 25mm distance between two of its three holes on the right side) then close. Repeat to add a jumpring to the remaining holes.

Using one 5mm jumpring, connect the left corner of the two hole crescent and the right corner jumpring of the three (25mm distance) hole crescent.
STEP 14
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the right corner hole on one 45mm crescent shape (use the crescent shape that has the 8mm distance between two of its three holes on the left side) then close. Repeat to add jumprings to the remaining holes on the crescent.

Using one 5mm jumpring, connect the wider side jumpring of the three (25mm distance) hole crescent and the right corner jumpring of the second (8mm distance) three hole crescent.
STEP 15
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the hole in the right corner of the four hole 57mm crescent shape then close. Repeat to add a jumpring to the hole on the wider right side.

Using one 5mm jumpring, connect the right corner jumpring of the 57mm crescent with the left jumpring of the three (25mm distance) hole crescent.

Using one 5mm jumpring, connect the jumpring on the wider right side to the left corner of the second (8mm distance) three hole crescent.
STEP 16
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the hole in the right corner of the remaining 57mm crescent shape then close.

Using one 5mm jumpring, connect the remaining hole of the three (8mm distance) hole crescent to the right corner of the previous 57mm crescent.
STEP 17
Repeat Steps 12 - 16 using 5mm and 6mm jumprings, the remaining crescent shapes and the first link on the 8-inch length of chain to create a mirror image of the first half of the necklace.
STEP 18
Pass one 4mm jumpring through the last link on the 5-1/2 inch length of chain and the loop on the hook portion of one hook-and-eye clasp then close.

Pass one 5mm jumpring through the hole on the circular clay shape and the last link on the 8-inch length of chain then close.

Earrings

STEP 1

Cut out one teardrop shape approximately 40mm in length from the clay.

Repeat to cut out a total of two teardrop and two 19mm circular clay shapes.

Bake according to manufacturer’s instructions.
STEP 6
Using a drill, place a hole in the middle of the curved side of one teardrop. Repeat to add a hole to the second teardrop.

Repeat adding two holes across from each other to each circular shape creating circular links.
STEP 7
Grind, smooth and polish the edges of one teardrop. Repeat for each of the shapes.

Place a toothpick in each of the corners of one teardrop. Repeat to add toothpicks to each of the holes in the remaining shapes.
STEP 8
Beginning in the center of one teardrop shape, apply Magic-Glos until it covers the entire shape. Cure according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Repeat for the remaining shapes.

Remove the toothpicks.

Note: Apply additional layers of Magic-Glos until the dome has reached the desired height.

Earring Assembly

STEP 9
Pass one 5mm jumpring through the hole on one teardrop shape then close. Repeat to add 5mm jumprings to the holes on the remaining shapes.
STEP 10
Pass one 4mm jumpring through the jumpring on one teardrop shape and the jumpring on one side of one circular shape then close.

Pass one 4mm jumpring through the remaining jumpring on the previous circular shape and the loop on one fishhook earwire then close.

Repeat to create a second earring.
