Wedding themes are becoming more and more popular as brides and grooms look for décor inspiration that incorporates something they love, whether that be a movie, book, holiday or anything else. One popular wedding theme we can't ignore is the glitz and glamour of the jazz age. It's time to party like it's 1922 with a Great Gatsby wedding. Oh, and this is a great bridal shower theme, too--hint hint Maid of Honors out there.

Champagne
Nothing says fancy like the color of bubbly. Be sure to have plenty of the liquid version of this hue, too! (Champagne towers are a popular way to start toasts.) The great thing about a stunning neutral like champagne is this color won't feel overwhelming, and you can add in splashes of blush for a romantic tone.

Gold (and Gold Glitter) with Black
Not all that glitters is gold, but at a Gatsby wedding, glittering metallic gold is key. Black and gold are a stand-out combination that looks bold and rich anywhere they're used together.

P.S. Rose gold can make appearances in this palette, as well as bold red accents.

Green and Gold
Black isn't the only color to pair with gold, as green is an alternative brides are choosing when they want to bring in another color than "traditional" Gatsby schemes. Anywhere from emerald to mint green hues are used.

How to Throw a Great Gatsby Wedding Pearls
When you think you've gotten enough pearls--get more. Pearls can be used EVERYWHERE:
  • As curtain panels
  • Hanging from chandeliers
  • Knotted and looped on chair backs
  • Draped on the cake stand (or even on the cake)
  • Individually placed on the cake
  • Silverware ties
  • Dripping from floral or brooch bouquets alongside cupchain and crystals
  • Hung on table number frames or gold wine bottle décor accents
  • In glass candle holders surrounding votives
  • On the bride (duh) and bridesmaids
Pearl jewelry is classic and beautiful. Jazz up your wedding pearl jewelry with a knotted pearl rope for the bridesmaids in white, gold or rose gold hues. For the bride's necklace, multiple strands of pearls strung with crystal beads and maybe some tassels capture the essence of a roaring '20s wedding. Great Gatsby brides aren't known for minimal jewelry, so don't be shy about throwing on earrings, stacking bracelets and even a headband, too.

Feathers
Speaking of headbands, pearls aren't the only design element used. White feathers are found in Great Gatsby weddings as a part of the jewelry by sticking off one side of headbands, hair clips and earrings. Large white or black ostrich feathers are often used in tall vase centerpieces while smaller variations have been spotted in feather bouquets and part of boutonnieres.

Gold Sequins and Glitter
Great Gatsby weddings are renowned for their sparkle. Sequins help bring pizzazz to table runners, tablecloths, photo booth backdrops, bridesmaid or flower girl dresses and more. Glitter as far as the eye can see is on wine bottles, candlestick holders, bridal makeup and nails, table numbers and more.

Other Key Gatsby Wedding Elements

Fringe
Some brides want the whole flapper girl style, while others only want a nuance to the free-flowing movement of fringe dresses. Fringe is a great element to include in bridal jewelry, especially with gold necklace chain.

Art Deco
It's not a Gatsby wedding without art deco details. The most common places we've seen bold, delineated geometric shapes are on wedding invites to set the tone; absolutely on the wedding cake; backdrops for photo booths, a "sweeteasy" (candy buffet play on speakeasies) or cigar bar; seating chart boards and even on the boutonnieres. Take it even further and let guests take a touch of the theme home with your wedding favors in caftan stripe gift pouches.

Signs
It seems signs at weddings has become a near necessity. We've spotted these phrases in Art Deco styling at Great Gatsby inspired weddings:
  • "I love her and that's the beginning and the end of everything." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • "There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • "You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful person I have ever known--and even that is an understatement." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • "Prohibition Ends Here" (placed strategically near the bar, of course)
  • "Too much of anything is bad, but too much champagne is just right."
  • "Time to drink champagne and dance on the table"
  • "Have a Roaring Good Time" a bit of a roaring '20s play on words
Use this collection of Great Gatsby wedding inspiration to make your nuptials glamorous and opulent. It'll be a day that not only you look back fondly on, but a Great Gatsby wedding theme also ensures a memorable experience for guests, too. It's time to party like Gatsby!
