How do you get the kinks, creases, etc. out of leather cord or other types of cord so it will lay nicely?

The easiest way to remove kinks from leather, heavy cotton cord or satin cord is to dampen the cord (not soak) and work the cord through your fingers until it is straight. If the cord is heavy or will not straighten with just your fingers, dampen the cord, attach a heavy C-clamp to the top end and secure to a shelf or hanger at a high position, then attach a weight or second C-clamp to the bottom end of the cord. Let the cord dry in this position overnight and the kinks should be removed. If needed, dampen the cord and allow it to dry again.
