How to Start a Box Chain Weave

Place two jump rings on a spare piece of wire then twist the ends of the wire together, securing the jump rings and creating a "handle". These jump rings are connectors to the clasp.

Pass one jump ring through the previous two jump rings then close. Attach a second jump ring through the same path as the previous, creating a 2-2 chain. These will be referred to as the second set of jump rings.

Repeat Step 2, adding two more jump rings through the two previous jump rings added to the chain, creating a 2-2-2 chain. These will be referred to as the third set of jump rings.

Flip over the chain so that the third set of jump rings added is on top. Bring one jump ring down, to either side of the first set, so that the second set is now on top. Turn the chain 90-degrees then spread the second set apart so that the third set is now visible in the center.

Pass one jump ring through the third set of jump rings, between the second set, then attach a second jump ring through the same path, creating locking rings and the beginning of the next 2-2 chain.

Note: The top jump rings may fall to the sides but will easily flip back in place by pulling the handle.

Pass one jump ring through the locking rings then close. Attach a second jump ring through the same path as the previous, creating a 2-2 chain.

Bring one of the previous jump rings down to either side of the third set of jump rings so that the locking rings are now visible. Turn the chain 90 degrees then spread locking rings apart so that the third set is now visible in the center.

Pass one jump ring through the two center jump rings then attach a second jump ring through the same path creating a second set of locking rings.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to the desired length of chain.
