Grand Prize Gold Medal Winner: Micaela Sandoval
Oh, no way! That is fantastic! I really didn't expect that!
Micaela was inspired by ice crystals on a pine cone, and she drew upon her fascination for how geometry is displayed in nature to interweave multiple beads and techniques into an artistic whole.

Design Idea CAD9 Necklace
Grand Prize Silver Medal Winner: Ezartesa

Ezarteza, last year's Grand Gold Winner, amazed us again with her bridal necklace "Frost Flower." Her use of Gilson opals brought a subtle play of color into her creation, while the off-center accent bow modernized her Grand Silver Medal-Winning design.

Design Idea CADM Necklace
Grand Prize Bronze Medal Winner: Melissa Ingram

Melissa engineered this beaded tribute to her maternal great-grandmother to create a swinging pendulum, concealing an armature under the seed beads. She used seven different stitches to create this combination of strength and beauty, earning her the Grand Bronze Medal.

Design Idea CADG Necklace
Grand Prize Employee's Choice Winner: Sydney Alfrano

We kept picking up Sydney's brightly colored, astonishingly lightweight beaded lei. Traditional Hawaiian leis contain 50 flowers, so Sydney seed beaded 50 plumeria flowers and strung them together to create a lei that would never fade or die.

Design Idea CADA Necklace
Grand Prize President's Award Winner: Carol Davis

Stuart preferred the precision and attention to detail in Carol's triple-strand necklace "Spice of Life." Each of the 93 tubes were peyote stitched in a pattern--no two quite the same--around a wooden bead, then capped with golden heishi beads.

Design Idea CADJ Necklace
Grand Prize Special Recognition Winner: Kaaren Poole

The judges just couldn't let Kaaren's adorable necklace go without some kind of recognition. While her polymer clay figures were "otter"ly cute, her use of silky and Ceylon seed beads successfully created the illusion of flowing water across the piece, making her a master of special effects.
