Sputnik Earrings
Follow along with Sue Ripsch, renowned chainmaille artist, as she walks through the steps to create what she calls Sputnik earrings, a pair of chain mail earrings made with various jumprings and a bicone bead.
Instructions
Step 1
String one Crystal Passions 6mm bicone onto one approximately 1-1/2 inch headpin then form a simple loop.
Step 2
Pass one 2.5mm jump ring through the loop on one ear wire then close. Attach one 4mm jump ring to the previous jump ring, creating a 1-1 chain.
Step 3
Pass one 4mm jump ring through the previous 4mm jump ring then close. Repeat to attach a second jump ring, creating a 1-1-2 chain.
Step 4
Pass one 10mm jump ring through one of the set of two 4mm jump rings, string the loop on the bicone then pass through the second 4mm jump ring. Close the jump ring.
Note: The crystal should be between the two 4mm jump rings.
Step 5
Pass one 10mm jump ring between the two 4mm jump rings, above the crystal and previous 10mm jump ring. Bring the opposite end of the 10mm jump ring up inside the previous 10mm jump ring then close. Repeat to create a second earring.
