Topics: Stringing a Briolette, Wire Choice

Q.
I ordered some green amethyst briolettes and I'd like to use the largest stone to make a very simple necklace. So simple in fact, that I'd like to just string it on a wire, and add a clasp--nothing more. The stone is 15.75 carats and it measures 19x11.5mm. Which wire should I use so that it supports the stone without being weighed down by it? Thanks.

For this design, use the thickest diameter Accu-Flex® beading wire that will fit through the green amethyst briolette's hole to ensure the most strength and support.

Unless the bead hole is exceptionally small, the 49-strand, 0.019-inch diameter, Accu-Flex will most likely fit through your bead. Accu-Flex beading wire comes in a wide array of colors, so you can choose a color that will complement your bead, crimp tubes and clasp.
