Q.
What is the best way to replace a pinback with only half the pinback left? I still have the closure portion, but not the pin and joint.
- Lisa
A.
Cut or saw off the remaining attached parts. In this case, your closure or clutch is still attached. Make a clean cut and file away any rough parts with a needle file. Rough up the area with the file so that the glue can adhere to the pin back component securely. Use Devcon 2-part Jeweler’s Epoxy to glue on the pin back.

One-piece pin backs are made in a variety of metal types and sizes and would be a good replacement part. Choose one that matches the metal color and fits the brooch back plate.
