Collar-Style Necklace and Earring Set with Bugle Beads

Necklace

STEP 1
String one gold-plated 21x1.5mm curved tube bead onto a 21-gauge 2-inch headpin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a 21x1.5mm curved tube bead drop. Repeat to create a total of thirty 21x1.5mm curved tube bead drops.
STEP 2
String two gunmetal rainbow bugle beads onto a 21-gauge 2-inch headpin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a double gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drop. Repeat to create a total of twenty double gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drops.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Twenty double olive rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty double turquoise rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty double brown rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty double aqua rainbow bugle bead drops
STEP 3
Create a twenty-two 21x1.5mm curved tube bead drops using 24-gauge headpins.
STEP 4
Create the following using 24-gauge headpins:
  • Twenty-six double gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty-six double olive rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty-six double turquoise rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty-six double brown rainbow bugle bead drops
  • Twenty-six double aqua rainbow bugle bead drops
STEP 5
Using flush-cutters, cut one 20-inch length of gold-plated 5x3.5mm heavy cable chain and one 18-inch length of brass-plated 2.2mm cable chain.
STEP 6
Open the loop on the gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drop from Step 2. Pass the loop through the 17th link (approximately 2 inches) from one end of the the 20-inch length of chain. Close the loop.

Continue to attach one drop from Steps 1 and 2 to each link on the chain in a random pattern leaving approximately 2 inches of chain on the opposite end empty as well.
STEP 7
Open the loop on the gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drop from Step 4. Pass the loop through the 57th link (approximately 3-1/2 inches) from one end of the 18-inch length of chain. Close the loop.

Continue to attach one drop from Steps 3 and 4 to each link on the chain in a random pattern leaving approximately 2 inches of chain on the opposite end empty as well.
STEP 8
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open four 4mm jumprings. Pass one 4mm jumpring through the top loop on one portion of the clasp and the first link one end of the 18-inch length of chain. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the second portion of the clasp last link on the opposite end of the chain.

Repeat to attach one end of the 20-inch length chain to a bottom loop on each portion of the clasp.

Earrings

STEP 1
String one gold-plated 21x1.5mm curved tube bead onto a 21-gauge 2-inch headpin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a 21x1.5mm curved tube bead drop. Repeat to create a total of two 21x1.5mm curved tube bead drops.
STEP 2
String two gunmetal rainbow bugle beads onto a 21-gauge 2-inch headpin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a double gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drop. Repeat to create a total of four double gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drops.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Four double olive rainbow bugle double bead drops
  • Four double turquoise rainbow double bugle bead drops
  • Four double brown rainbow double bugle bead drops
  • Four double aqua rainbow double bugle bead drops
STEP 3
String one gunmetal rainbow bugle bead onto a 21-gauge 2-inch headpin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a single gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drop.

Repeat to create the following:
  • One single olive rainbow bugle double bead drops
  • One single turquoise rainbow double bugle bead drops
  • One single brown rainbow double bugle bead drops
  • One single aqua rainbow double bugle bead drops
STEP 4
Using flush-cutters cut one 1-3/4 inch lengths of brass-plated 2.2mm cable chain.
STEP 5
Open the loop on the double gunmetal rainbow bugle bead drop. Pass it through the first link on one end of the length of chain. Close the loop.

Continue to attach a drop to each link on the 1-3/4 inch chain in a random pattern leaving the last link empty.
STEP 6
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on an earwire and the last link on the chain. Close the jumpring.
STEP 7
Repeat Steps 1 - 6 to create the second earring.
