The name apatite comes from the Greek word apate, which means, "to deceive." Apatite was once confused with some of the more valuable gems such as tourmaline, olivine, peridot, topaz and beryl. For crystal healers, apatite is a gemstone to clear away the fog left by negative and toxic emotions, allowing the chakra pathways to flow more freely.

Heishi beads are popular choices for Southwestern, Western and Native American-inspired jewelry designs. These are machine-cut for more consistent size and shape, making them great for multi- and twisted-strand designs.
