Use this wooden dapping block to shape softer metals into domed teardrops by hammering into the depressions. Made from Portia tree hard wood, this dapping block has a smooth, non-marring finish and seven teardrop indentations. Unlike metal tools, wood dapping tools are less likely to chip, scratch or mar precious and plated metals. To shape sterling silver, Argentium® silver and other metal noted as half-hard or hard, the metal will first need to be annealed.
Indentations range from 3/4 inch to 2 inches. Use with a rawhide hammer.
Depressions of this dapping block are also useful for creating domed shapes with jewelry-making clays.
