This dapping block and dapping punch set is used to shape and create concave depressions in soft metals, including patterned or textured metal sheet. Dapping block and punches are made of European beech wood, suitable for up to 16-gauge gold, silver, copper, brass and aluminum. Unlike metal tools, wooden dapping tools are less likely to chip, scratch or mar precious and plated metals.
Set includes a rectangular dapping block with six depressions (approximately 1/2 inch deep) and six sizes of doming punches measuring 21mm to 55mm.
Use with a rawhide, nylon or wooden hammer.
Depressions of this dapping block are also useful for creating domed shapes with jewelry-making clays.
