Selenite is a luminous variety of gypsum, which has been wax-coated to protect the stone and create a smooth polish. Golden selenite gets its distinctive color thanks to the inclusion of sand during formation. Undrilled faceted double point shapes are especially popular when creating celestial-inspired or metaphysical jewelry.

Named after the Greek goddess of the moon (Selene), selenite is associated with the crown and third eye chakras and is believed to promote mental purity and serenity. It is thought golden selenite has all the same metaphysical properties as silvery selenite. According to metaphysical beliefs, golden selenite compels the holder to complete self-honesty and is useful for cleansing other stones.
