Squash blossom charms give their name to the necklace style that features them. Starting in the 1880s, these "beads that spread out" were added to otherwise plain beaded necklaces worn by Navajo, Pueblo and Zuni tribe members. Squash blossom jewelry was later made for sale to visitors. These assembled charms add a 3D touch to Native American-inspired designs.
