I just purchased leverback earrings with settings to set stones into. I have both cabochons and faceted stones, which one is appropriate for this type of setting? Also, can you please advise how to set the stones so I'm sure they stay secure?

The biggest difference I can point out to help you determine which type of setting you have, is the length of the prongs. Settings for faceted stones have longer prongs than those for cabochons, as the depth of the stone is different.
